CARE keV is specifically developed for Quantum Technology. In combination with CARE Dose4D, tube current and the tube potential (kV setting) are tailored to the individual patient, the system capabilities, and the clinical task. CARE keV automatically adjusts the appropriate kV and effective mAs settings to optimize the applied dose while maintaining image quality, that is, the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) at predefined keV levels [5]. The advantages of photon-counting CT using Monoenergetic Plus reconstructions include increased CNR with decreasing keV level and consistent iodine signal (hence, CNR) independent of patient size [6]. On the contrary, iodine signal in conventional CT varies with the patient size for a given kV due to beam hardening [3]. Further, the IQ level is advantageous for workflow because the same image quality will result independent of the tube voltage [4]. By ensuring consistent CNR levels for all scan modes, CARE keV offers a complete solution for photon-counting CT scanners.
This whitepaper describes the use of CARE keV and demonstrates its functionality across multiple scan modes for different clinical tasks. This functionality is based on NAEOTOM Alpha class VB20.
