Course design and objectives
The NAEOTOM Alpha class with its QuantaMax photon-counting CT detectors enables spectral imaging with every scan. This extended information can help to perform precise functional evaluations and addresses limitations of conventional CT. To use this data source, there are physical and practical considerations and application strategies that have to be understood.
The first day demonstrates the physical key fundamentals of photon-counting CT and the basic principles of the NAEOTOM Alpha class scanners. The focus is set on operation principles, differentiation to EID technology, reconstructions, kernels, dose considerations. Furthermore, a gentle introduction into spectral imaging followed by a session on tuning (imagequality and artifacts) will be taught to the participants. You will learn and understand how to adapt the technology to your specific needs and get guidance by experts.
On the second day, the attendees are guided through different clinical fields: cardiology, oncology and neurology, all based on the needs of the participants. For understanding the fundamentals, each sessions starts with explaining the reasoning behind ex-factory scan protocols by technical and application experts. Afterwards, we deep dive into the clinical details. We show best-practices and “do’s and don’ts “ from a global perspective are discussed and shown. We close each sessions with best practices for integration in scanner fleets, based on Siemens Healthineers CT scanners. As an outlook, best practices protocols are presented, shared completing the day.
